Through play and song, children are to be better prepared to navigate train station platforms and cross railway crossings.
This is the hope with a nationwide safety campaign, which DSB and Child Accident Foundation are behind.
The campaign is aimed at preschool children and the youngest schoolchildren and was presented earlier today at Hærvejsskolen in Rødekro.
The students have in fact tested the campaign and spent the last 14 days learning about good habits at train stations. They have learned among other things through board games and songs, which are part of the campaign.

Students have learned something
-----------------------
Emilie My Carstensen and Lisanne Marie Dekker from 2.A at Hærvejsskolen, are two of the students who have participated, and for them, it has made a difference.
-One should stand still on the platform, and when the doors close, one should not try to enter the train, Lisanne Marie Dekker explains.
And classmate Emilie My Christensen has also become wiser.
-I didn't know much about train tracks before, but now I can certainly feel that I have learned a lot.

Important with early intervention
--------------------------
The campaign was presented by among others Nils La Cour, who is a safety specialist at DSB. For him, it is important that children are introduced to how to behave in the vicinity of train tracks as early as possible.
-We want to ground a consciousness in the children as early as possible about the fact that the railway is not a playground.
Henriette Madsen, who is the general secretary of Child Accident Foundation, nods in agreement that children lack knowledge in the area. Before the children started working with campaign materials, they were presented with a test and it showed that over half of them had errors in their answers.
-But now we have gone through the entire learning material, and all students have in fact answered correctly. So we can see that there is a need for children to get an insight into what happens on platforms and near train tracks, so we can prevent accidents when children get older.
DSB and Child Accident Foundation have already sold out of the first edition of the learning materials and have just ordered an additional 500 learning sets from the printer.
