More hydrogen has been bid for the new hydrogen pipeline than was required, and therefore the project is moving a step forward.

Danish companies have now booked sufficient capacity in a future hydrogen pipeline to Germany, allowing the project to move to the next step.
This is according to Energinet in a press release.
The question of whether Danish companies were ready to reserve capacity in the hydrogen pipeline has been a contentious issue.
"We have closely followed the development of the capacity bookings, and the suspense regarding the booking requirement for 2026 has now been immediately resolved," says Michael Linnemann Pedersen, Area Manager for Megaprojects at Energinet, in the statement.
The hydrogen pipeline will run like a 7 from Esbjerg, into central Jutland and down to Germany.
Here, German factories are ready to take the Danish-produced hydrogen, which is to be created using renewable energy.
By using green hydrogen in industrial processes, large German factories can adopt a new climate measure.
Danish Parliament reached agreement on support
Plans to establish a hydrogen pipeline from Denmark to Germany began to gain momentum from 2023, when the two countries shook hands on the idea.
Since then, there have been challenges in designing the financial support and securing guarantees that companies can and will supply hydrogen to the pipeline.
In September, the Danish Parliament entered into a new agreement on increased financial support for the hydrogen pipeline, which also set a requirement for how much hydrogen companies must commit to supplying to the pipeline.
The requirement of 0.5 GW now appears to be met, as bookings corresponding to 0.557 GW have been submitted.
"This brings us a step closer to the ambition of being able to transport Danish-produced green hydrogen to German industry and contribute to a European hydrogen market," Michael Linnemann Pedersen further says in the statement.
The Danish companies' booking is, however, not binding and can be cancelled until 31 December 2027.
The actors will first commit financially at the end of 2027.
Danish company prepares
One of the Danish companies preparing to send hydrogen to Germany is Everfuel.
Here, they thank the Danish and German authorities for setting good frameworks for the new hydrogen industry and transport.
Everfuel's CEO and founder, Jacob Krogsgaard, simultaneously points out that Denmark is on its way to becoming a strong exporter in the hydrogen market.
Fulfilling Germany's national hydrogen ambitions will require large amounts of green hydrogen, which Denmark can supply.
"Denmark is expected to be the only significant and competitive import corridor to Germany in 2031, which gives Danish projects a unique position to contribute to the German market," he says.
