A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault on September 27 in Risskov near Aarhus, says investigation leader Flemming Nørgaard from East Jutland Police.

"We have arrested a 19-year-old man charged with attempted rape," he says.

The investigation leader says the arrested man lives in the local area and that he had been suspected for several days.

"Today we received a response from our forensic genetics department indicating that he could be a potential perpetrator," says Flemming Nørgaard.

There was another assault in the area in June, which police have linked to the assault in late September.

"At this point, he is only charged in the one case," says Flemming Nørgaard, who emphasizes that the investigation into the first assault is ongoing.

The investigation leader expects the 19-year-old to be produced in a pre-trial custody hearing tomorrow, where police will request he be remanded in custody.
